Scavengers of Civilization
Scavengers of Civilization are airborne beings who observe the human world from above. Entirely black and without faces or emotions, they collect fragments of civilizations that are lost or nearing extinction as a means of survival.
Each fragment they gather manifests as a new element on their bodies. Existing beyond time and space, they serve as objective recorders of civilization. As their bodies accumulate more colors, humanity advances—while more civilizations are left behind, lost in time and space.
This design draws on symbolic scripts and motifs from lost or endangered civilizations, including the Sumerians, the Maya, the Ainu, and enigmatic, partially undeciphered Nordic runes. The mechanical wings suggest humanity’s arrival at industrial civilization, while questioning whether this industrial world itself may one day be buried and forgotten.
